The investment seeks capital appreciation. The fund invests mainly in common stocks of small U.S. companies, with a focus on value stocks. Value stocks are issued by companies that are currently undervalued by the market. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in companies of a size similar to those in the Russell 2000 Value Index. The adviser may consider, among other factors, a company's valuation, financial strength, and growth potential, competitive position in its industry, projected future earnings, cash flows and dividends when deciding whether to buy or sell investments.

Biography | Mr. Simon is the founder, managing partner and senior portfolio manager of Third Gear Capital Management. Mr. Simon has nearly four decades of portfolio management experience, which began at Putnam Investments, where he was both an analyst and portfolio manager, launching the Putnam Utilities Growth and Income Fund in 1992 and achieving top-quartile five-year performance in 1997. He then moved to co-manage the $50B Putnam Fund for Growth and Income and managed the Putnam Small Cap Value Fund. Sheldon left Putnam in 2002 and joined Adage Capital Management, LP, which had spun from Harvard Management Company in 2001, where he was responsible for its utility and energy infrastructure (regulated pipelines) portion of the overall (S&P 500 benchmarked) portfolio. Sheldon became a partner at Adage in 2007 and retired in 2021, culminating in a 19-year career at the firm. In civic engagement, Sheldon is the advisory board chair for Boston University’s Institute for Global Sustainability and its predecessor, the Institute for Energy Sustainability (2015 to today). He served as a trustee at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he chaired its Research Oversight Committee. Finally, Sheldon founded and chaired The Men’s Collaborative to Cure Women’s Cancers, raising funds for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s women’s cancers program.
