The fund will be a general fund. The Manager in selecting securities for the portfolio will seek to follow an investment policy which firstly endeavours to mirror the composition of the JSE/FTSE All Share 40 Index and secondly seeks enhancement opportunities and secure for investors an optimum overall return, that is to say the steady growth of income and the preservation of capital in real terms. In order to achieve these main objectives the investments to be acquired for the fund, shall comprise a mix of securities, financially sound ordinary shares, stock, financially sound preference shares, debenture stock, debenture bonds, and unsecured notes, as defined in the Act and the Deed, all to be acquired at a fair market value.

Biography | Jonathan co-founded Africa Merchant Capital Management in January 2014 as a boutique investment manager focusing on the Pan-African region outside of South Africa. He has over eight years’ experience investing in public equity markets having managed portfolios investing in South Africa, developed markets and frontier African markets. The firm launched the Africa Merchant Sub-Sahara Fund in December 2014 where he is the portfolio manager. Prior to co-founding AMCM he travelled through Africa and conducted research on listed and private equity in the region. He worked at Prescient Investment Management from February 2007 to December 2012 where he pioneered the Prescient Africa Equity Fund. He holds a BBusSci Quantitative Finance degree from the University of Cape Town and is a CFA charter holder. | ||
