Investment Strategy

The investment seeks maximum total return, consistent with prudent investment management. Normally, the Portfolio seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in a diversified portfolio of fixed income instruments of varying maturities, which may be represented by forwards or derivatives such as options, futures contracts or swap agreements. It may invest all of its assets in high yield securities subject to a maximum of 10% of its total assets in securities rated below B.
