The investment seeks long-term capital growth; current income is a secondary objective. Normally, the Portfolio invests at least 80% of net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in equity securities of mid-sized companies. It invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of equity securities of mid-sized companies that are determined by Portfolio's adviser to be undervalued at the time of purchase. The Portfolio may invest in American Depositary Receipts and foreign securities (up to 20% of net assets), including those of companies located in emerging markets.
