The Sub-Fund invests primarily in marketable equity securities of Asia and Pacific countries (ex Japan) and companies whose headquarters are not in Asia Pacific countries (ex Japan) that generate over half of their profits from Asia and Pacific countries (ex Japan), including equity-related securities such as ADRs and GDRs, exchange traded funds and stock index futures. The Sub-Fund will invest without regard to market capitalization. The Sub-Fund applies the investment strategy developed by the Investment Manager based on a stock bottom-up selection approach with a mid-long term view, typically over a three to five year horizon and beyond. The Sub-Investment Manager focuses on companies that can achieve 1) long-term, 2) stable and 3) above-market growth regardless of external environment like macro-economic conditions. The manager tries to identify this kind of growth by making bottom-up research focusing on business model, management ability, financial stability and so on.

Biography | Mr. Ernest Sutanto has been Co-Chief Fund Manager, responsible for day-to-day operations including final buy/sell decision making and portfolio construction for the MUFG Asia Pacific ex Japan Equity Stable Growth Strategy since July 2017. He also acts as an Analyst for Materials, Commercial Services, Automobiles & Components, Consumer Services, Media and Software & Services. He has 12 years of investment experience. Prior to joining MUFG: Trust Bank, Singapore in 2013, Ernest was a Portfolio Manager (from 2011-2013) with Samsung Asset Management, the largest asset management firm in Korea. He managed the Samsung Indonesia Fund and assisted with the Samsung ASEAN Fund. He also gained experience as an Assistant Trader (from 2010-2011) in JPMorgan’s commodities desk. Biography | Mr. Kenichi Takano is responsible for Portfolio Oversight & Team Management for Asset Management Group in Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (“MUFG: Trust Bank”), Singapore Branch. He joined MUFG: Trust Bank in 1992 having started his career in asset management business as an Assistant Portfolio Manager in 1996. From 1999, he has worked as a Fund Manager for International Equities covering the U.S., Europe and Asia. He also worked in Mitsubishi UFJ Trust International, London to expand his experience as a Fund Manager specialising in global equities (from 2002-2008). From 2008, he was engaged in quantitative multi-factor investment in Japanese equities. In 2012, he set up the Asia Equity Investment Team in Singapore and the MUFG Asia Pacific ex Japan Stable Growth Fund was launched shortly after utilizing his expertise and experience in quantitative investment and active stock selection based on sustainable growth strategies. He has a BA in Economics from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo. |
