Investment Strategy

The investment seeks high total return. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in debt securities of "emerging market countries." It invests mainly in debt securities issued by sovereign and subsovereign government entities, including securities issued by political subdivisions, local authorities, government agencies, government owned, controlled, sponsored or guaranteed corporations and supranationals located in emerging market countries. The fund may invest up to 100% of its assets in debt securities that are rated below investment grade. It may also invest up to 15% of its net assets in defaulted debt securities.

Biography	William Ledward is Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst of Franklin Templeton Investment Management Limited (FTIML). He has final authority over all aspects of the Fund's investment portfolio, including but not limited to, purchases and sales of individual securities, portfolio risk assessment, and the management of daily cash balances in accordance with anticipated investment management requirements. The degree to which he may perform these functions, and the nature of these functions, may change from time to time. He joined Franklin Templeton Investments in 1997.

Biography	Claire Husson is a portfolio manager / research analyst in Emerging Markets Debt in the Fixed Income Group of Franklin Templeton Investments Management Ltd. Her roles include: selecting new borrowing countries based on macro-economic fundamentals and public finance ratios, advising on purchases and sales of individual securities, making investment decisions, analyzing performance attribution and portfolio risks, presenting the EMD opportunities. She focuses on EMD strategies for euro-based investors and on new Emerging Markets, notably in Central Asia and Francophone & Anglophone Africa.
