Investment Strategy

The investment seeks to provide a high level of current income exempt from both Federal and Maryland State income taxes without undue risk. The fund normally invests at least 80% of the value of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in Maryland bonds, including bonds issued on behalf of the State of Maryland, its local governments and public financing authorities. It may also invest in municipal securities issued by other states, U.S. territories, and possessions, U.S. government securities, general obligation securities and revenue securities, including private activity bonds. The fund is non-diversified.

Prior to joining Brown, she was a Vice President at First Maryland Asset Management. She received her B.S. from Towson University in 1983.

Biography Paul D. Corbin has been a member of Brown’s senior management since 1998. Since 1991, he has been responsible for fixed income trading with a focus in taxable bonds. Mr. Corbin has many years of investment experience, managing both taxable and non-taxable portfolios and trading with a concentration in taxable bonds. He has been with Brown and its predecessors since 1991. Prior to joining Brown, he served as the Senior Vice President in charge of Fixed Income Portfolio Management at First Maryland Asset Management. Mr. Corbin received a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1974 and a M.B.A. from George Washington University in 1981.
