Biography | Karsten Kumpf, CFA, PhD, MD, heads up Core Portfolio Management in Australia and APAC for Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions. The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock’s index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and cutting-edge alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels Dr. Kumpf is responsible for daily portfolio management and client strategy support for a range of products in the MASS Australia, including the Multi-Opportunity fund, global diversified funds, asset allocation mandates and overlays, hedged international equity portfolios. His service with the firm dates to 2006, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. Prior to working at BGI, Dr. Kumpf was Director at TIBCO Software and managed pre-sales and consulting business services groups in the Australia and New Zealand region, and he worked as Chief Technology Officer at the Australian telecommunications software and consulting services provider Soprano Design. Biography | "Ron Montgomery, FRM,Director, is a Portfolio Manager in BlackRock's Multi-Asset Strategies Group and is the lead portfolio manager for the BlackRock Tactical Growth (TGF) Fund. He also is the lead PM for number of our Whole Portfolio Solutions clients in Australia and New Zealand. He has a wide area of focus ranging from portfolio construction, derivative structuring and implementation to asset allocation. Mr. Montgomery leads the MASS Regional Allocation Council for APAC. Mr. Montgomery's service with the firm dates back to 2005, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, he was a trader and assistant portfolio manager within the Multi-Asset Clients Solutions Group. In this role, he was responsible for execution on behalf of the Fundamental Fixed Income and Asset Allocation teams and contributed to the portfolio management and alpha generation process. Prior to joining MLIM, Mr. Montgomery worked for Deutsche Bank AG, Sydney, managing their interest rate and structured credit trading middle offices. He began his investment career in 2001.
