The Fund seeks to maximise total return. The Fund invests at least 70% of its total assets in the equity securities of companies domiciled in, or exercising the predominant part of their activity in Asia, excluding Japan. The Fund places particular emphasis on sectors and companies that, in the opinion of the Investment Adviser, exhibit growth investment characteristics, such as above average growth rates in earnings or sales and high or improving returns on capital.

Biography | Karthik Sankaran, Director, is a portfolio manager and research analyst within the Global Emerging Markets Equities Team in BlackRock’s Fundamental Equities Group. He co-manages the India strategies and the BGF Asian Growth Leaders fund. He is a member of the India & South East Asia research pod. Before joining BlackRock in Nov 2021, Karthik was an Analyst & Portfolio Manager at Fidelity International for six years. He was responsible for a pan-regional equity research role in Asia, and was assistant PM of a 130/30 Asian fund. He was most recently lead PM of an Asia absolute return strategy. Karthik was a member of BlackRock’s Fundamental Equities Team based in London and Singapore between 2010-15. He covered several Middle Eastern, Frontier and Asian equity markets. Karthik was also an equity research analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch between 2006-10 as part of the EMEA financials team. Biography | Stephen Andrews, Managing Director, is Co-Head of Global Emerging Markets Equities for BlackRock’s Fundamental Equity Group. Mr. Andrews is lead portfolio manager for the Asian Dragon strategy and co-manages the Asian Unconstrained Strategy, Emerging Markets Sustainable Equity Strategy and the Income strategies. Prior to joining BlackRock in November 2017, Mr Andrews spent a 20-year career in the investment industry. During this time he has worked (and been based in) a variety of markets including Europe, the Middle East and now Asia. Prior to joining he was Head of Asian Financials Research and co-Head of Global Banks coverage at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong. Biography | Andrew Swan is Head of Asia (ex-Japan) Equities at Man GLG. Based in Australia, he focuses on Asia ex-Japan strategies. Andrew joined Man GLG in August 2020. Before that, he was at Blackrock for nine years where he held the titles of Head of Fundamental Asian Equities and Head of Fundamental Emerging Markets. Prior to that, Andrew was a portfolio manager at JPMorgan Asset Management between 2005 and 2011 and the Head of Asia Pacific Media and Internet Research at JPMorgan between 2002 and 2004. He started his career as a research analyst at Ord Minnett Securities in 1994. Andrews holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours in Accounting and Finance) from the University of New South Wales. |
