The Weighted mean is the price change at the 50th percentile versus the prior year. It is weighted by the distribution of price changes. The RBA watches this measure closely as it better reflects the underlying trend in inflation.

A reading that is stronger than forecast is generally supportive (bullish) for the AUD, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative (bearish) for the AUD.
