The Current Account index measures the difference in value between exported and imported goods, services and interest payments during the reported month. Trade Balance figure is the same as the goods portion of this report. Because foreigners must buy Canadian Dollars to buy Canadian exports, the data can have a pronounced impact on the CAD.

A reading that is stronger than forecast is generally supportive (bullish) for the CAD, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative (bearish) for the CAD.
