The Capacity Utilisation Rate is the percentage of production capacity being utilized in the U.S.(available resources includes factories, quarries and utilities). Capacity Utilisation can act as a leading indicator of consumer price inflation in that once a companies do not have the capacity to produce more output, the may opt to raise prices instead.

A reading that is stronger than forecast is generally supportive (bullish) for the USD, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative (bearish) for the USD.
