Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which rose 7.55% or 0.004 points to trade at 0.057 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 5.56% or 0.039 points to end at 0.740 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 3.87% or 0.011 points to 0.295 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 8.82% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.155 in late trade. Korres (AT:KRRr) declined 4.31% or 0.180 points to end at 4.000 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 3.57% or 0.050 points to 1.350.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 44 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.02 to $1277.52 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $54.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $60.84 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1615, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8765.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 94.70.
