Investment Strategy

The investment objective of the Fund is to provide long-term capital appreciation with a total return greater than the return of the Topix Index (the “Index”) on a rolling three-year basis. This Sub-Fund will primarily (meaning not less than 75% of its Net Asset Value) invest in equity securities traded principally on Regulated Markets that are issued by companies that have their registered office or carry out a predominant portion of their economic activity (meaning not less than 51%) in Japan. It is intended that this Sub-Fund will be substantially fully invested in such equity securities.

Biography John-Paul joined Martin Currie in 1998. Biography Cheng is the Chief Investment Officer for the Pacific ex-Japan region based in our Singapore office and is strategy engineer for both broad market and small capitalisation Pacific ex-Japan funds. Cheng joined AXA Rosenberg as a research associate in 1989 and prior to moving to Singapore was part of the team at the Barr Rosenberg Research Centre based at our head office in California. He has extensive knowledge of the Far Eastern region and has worked in the US and Japan before moving to Singapore.
