Investment Strategy
The Sub-Fund’s investment objective is to seek total return over the long term, with an emphasis on income. Under normal market conditions, the Sub-Fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing, directly or indirectly, primarily (i.e., at least 65% of its net assets) in debt and debt-related instruments issued by governments, quasi-governmental entities, supra-national institutions and companies Located in or with Substantial Ties to Asia. The Sub-Fund may invest in debt securities of any quality, including high yield debt securities rated below investment grade (commonly referred to as “junk bonds”) and unrated debt securities. The Sub-Fund has no stated maturity or duration target and the average effective maturity or duration may change.

| Biography | Teresa Kong is a Portfolio Manager at Matthews and manages the firm’s Asia Total Return Bond and Asia Credit Opportunities Strategies. Morgan Securities Inc., where she worked in the Structured Products Group and Latin America Capital Markets Group. She received both a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and an M.A. in International Development Policies from Stanford University. She speaks Cantonese fluently and is conversational in Mandarin.
