Investment Strategy

The Fund’s investment objective is to provide a high level of current income. The Fund will seek to achieve its investment objective by investing at least 70% of its Net Asset Value in the following types of high-yielding debt securities and instruments of US Issuers (either directly or indirectly via investment in other collective investment schemes that primarily invest in such securities, subject to restrictions herein) that are denominated in US Dollars that are listed or traded on Regulated Markets.

Biography	Michael C. Buchanan is Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Western Asset. Mr. Buchanan has been in the fixed-income industry since 1990. As Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Buchanan has direct oversight of Western Asset’s Global Credit Team, which covers U.S. and non-US investment-grade, high-yield and bank loan sectors. Mr. Buchanan also leads the Global Credit Committee, which ultimately determines overall firmwide credit themes. Prior to joining Western Asset in 2005, Mr. Buchanan served as Managing Director and Head of US Credit Products at Credit Suisse Asset Management and as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Janus Capital Management. Mr. Buchanan also worked at BlackRock Financial Management as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager and at Conseco Capital Management as Vice President and Portfolio Manager. Mr. Buchanan graduated with honors from Brown University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and is a CFA® charterholder.
