Proactive Investors - easyJet (LON:EZJ) has eyed a boost as thousands of fans ready to head towards Sweden for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Some 40,000 people from across Europe are expected to fly with the airline to the event’s semifinals and finals, which take place over the course of this week in Malmö.
easyJet said previously flight capacity to Copenhagen, Denmark, where there is a direct link to the Swedish city, would be increased by 10% compared to last year in anticipation of the contest.
Many of those travelling are set to come from Britain, according to the airline.
One in five tickets for the three live Eurovision events on Monday, Wednesday and Friday respectively were bought by those in the UK, easyJet said, citing a survey.
Last year’s finals, which were held in Liverpool, had prompted many to travel to watch the contest live, the airline added.
This is as easyJet found over a third of Britons would collectively tune into the event in its survey.
