Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.09% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index declined 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 2.37% or 0.050 points to trade at 2.160 at the close. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) added 2.13% or 0.040 points to end at 1.920 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was up 1.90% or 0.008 points to 0.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 4.78% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.578 in late trade. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 3.06% or 0.018 points to end at 0.570 and Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) shed 1.69% or 0.030 points to 1.750.
The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which rose 7.84% to 1.10, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was up 2.63% to settle at 7.80 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which gained 2.25% to close at 0.910.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.43% to 4.80 in late trade, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which lost 4.40% to settle at 2.61 and First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which was down 2.03% to 14.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 16 to 10 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 9 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.50% or 0.65 to $42.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.46% or 0.23 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.26% or 2.90 to trade at $1115.60 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.23% to 4.0719.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.83.
