Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Telecoms and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.15%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 2.41% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.553 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 2.22% or 0.015 points to end at 0.690 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) was up 2.19% or 0.016 points to 0.747 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 6.86% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.630 in late trade. National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) declined 3.68% or 0.050 points to end at 1.310 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) shed 1.67% or 0.009 points to 0.540.
The top performers on the ADX General were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which rose 15.00% to 2.99, Union Natl Bk (AD:UNB) which was up 5.48% to settle at 6.55 and Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which gained 3.07% to close at 1.68.
The worst performers were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was down 10.00% to 0.99 in late trade, National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which lost 8.70% to settle at 5.25 and Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was down 3.33% to 0.580 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 14 to 11 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 fell and 7 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.59% or 0.26 to $42.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.32% or 3.60 to trade at $1120.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.11% to 4.0547.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.95.
