Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 1.68% or 0.420 points to trade at 25.370 at the close. Bankia (MC:BKIA) added 1.48% or 0.015 points to end at 1.029 and Inditex (MC:ITX) was up 0.98% or 0.355 points to 36.665 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 17.40% or 0.087 points to trade at 0.413 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) declined 3.66% or 0.715 points to end at 18.800 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) shed 1.81% or 0.625 points to 33.870.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 84 and 10 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.73% or 9.20 to $1276.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.97% or 0.47 to hit $47.89 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.43 to trade at $50.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1267, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.8749.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 96.72.
