Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA), which rose 0.68% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.74 at the close. Nos SGPS SA (LISBON:NOS) added 0.34% or 0.0260 points to end at 7.5650 and Semapa (LISBON:SEM) was down 0.06% or 0.0075 points to 13.4425 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which lost 4.35% or 0.5925 points to trade at 13.0275 in late trade. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) declined 3.33% or 0.0002 points to end at 0.0058 and Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS) shed 2.32% or 0.0865 points to 3.6355.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 52 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was down 3.27% or 1.59 to $47.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.29% or 1.85 to hit $41.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.08% or 12.10 to trade at $1129.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.36% to 1.1065, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7072.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.85.
