Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Energy and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 4.11% or 2.11 points to trade at 53.50 at the close. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) added 3.54% or 0.12 points to end at 3.51 and Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) was up 2.22% or 1.85 points to 85.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which lost 3.56% or 3.16 points to trade at 85.60 in late trade. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) declined 2.42% or 0.79 points to end at 31.90 and Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW) shed 2.06% or 1.85 points to 88.14.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 332 to 217 and 106 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.36% or 0.15 to $41.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.37% or 0.17 to hit $46.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.92% or 21.70 to trade at $1149.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.21% to 4.1875, while USD/PLN fell 0.45% to 3.7401.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 96.01.
