Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Materials, Financial Services and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 1.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB), which rose 3.44% or 1.380 points to trade at 41.460 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) added 2.81% or 0.900 points to end at 32.890 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) was up 3.13% or 3.100 points to 102.190 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 0.92% or 0.030 points to trade at 3.250 in late trade. Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) declined 0.83% or 0.34 points to end at 40.81 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) shed 0.58% or 1.500 points to 257.350.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 140 to 37 and 3 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.23% or 3.05 to $1320.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.39% or 1.62 to hit $49.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 3.23% or 1.59 to trade at $50.85 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.80% to 18.4888, while EUR/MXN fell 1.33% to 20.5655.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.49% at 95.72.
