Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which rose 5.92% or 0.200 points to trade at 3.580 at the close. Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA) added 2.45% or 1.350 points to end at 56.380 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) was up 1.75% or 1.720 points to 100.190 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacifico (MX:GAPB), which lost 2.07% or 3.990 points to trade at 188.720 in late trade. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) declined 1.83% or 0.340 points to end at 18.200 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) shed 1.30% or 0.410 points to 31.090.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 80 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.22% or 2.85 to $1269.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.60% or 0.80 to hit $49.05 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.62% or 0.82 to trade at $49.80 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.75% to 18.4768, while EUR/MXN fell 0.32% to 20.8683.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 93.84.
