Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Marine Transport and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which rose 4.48% or 150.0 points to trade at 3500.0 at the close. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (TO) (T:8306) added 4.21% or 26.0 points to end at 643.0 and The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (T:5101) was up 3.94% or 77.0 points to 2029.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865), which lost 8.19% or 53.0 points to trade at 594.0 in late trade. Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) declined 6.12% or 340.0 points to end at 5220.0 and Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) shed 3.02% or 13.0 points to 417.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1592 to 1359 and 355 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.41% to 20.98.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.96% or 0.85 to $44.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.62% or 0.72 to hit $45.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.35% or 4.25 to trade at $1225.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 108.22, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 116.34.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 99.94.
