Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Chemicals and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.33% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.55%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 1.85% or 0.235 points to trade at 12.925 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 1.57% or 1.360 points to end at 87.720 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.21% or 0.135 points to 11.315 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 1.17% or 0.275 points to trade at 23.265 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 1.05% or 0.082 points to end at 7.728 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) shed 0.49% or 0.180 points to 36.330.
The top performers on the MDAX were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which rose 3.09% to 13.66, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 2.94% to settle at 34.99 and Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which gained 2.61% to close at 25.990.
The worst performers were RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was down 1.50% to 67.100 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 1.16% to settle at 52.750 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 1.04% to 85.810 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.11% to 44.500, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 5.03% to settle at 24.955 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 4.33% to close at 7.065.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.44% to 32.00 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 2.12% to settle at 45.555 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.09% to 8.451 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 393 to 348 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.25% to 14.73 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.99% or 11.20 to $1141.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.83% or 0.93 to hit $51.83 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.05% or 1.11 to trade at $55.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.0459, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8379.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 102.73.
