Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Energy and IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Home Capital Group Inc . (TSX:HCG), which rose 57.12% or 15.45 points to trade at 42.50 at the close. EQB Inc (TSX:EQB) added 10.68% or 5.73 points to end at 59.39 and Stelco Holdings Inc (TSX:STLC) was up 3.72% or 1.63 points to 45.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC), which lost 7.69% or 0.78 points to trade at 9.36 in late trade. Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS) declined 7.56% or 0.30 points to end at 3.67 and Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP) shed 5.04% or 0.42 points to 7.91.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.43% to 18.74 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 5.35 to $1,744.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.60% or 0.48 to hit $80.52 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.67 to trade at $88.12 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.73.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 107.47.
