Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 10.64% or 0.38 points to trade at 3.95 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 4.51% or 0.18 points to end at 4.17 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 3.85% or 0.20 points to 5.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which lost 3.55% or 0.79 points to trade at 21.45 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 3.39% or 0.30 points to end at 8.55 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) shed 3.33% or 0.23 points to 6.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 161 to 148 and 3 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.01% to 37.34.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.17% or 1.90 to $1087.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.12% or 0.06 to hit $45.91 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.44% or 0.55 to trade at $124.42 .
USD/BRL was up 0.42% to 3.4664, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 3.7736.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 98.04.
