Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.61% or 1.880 points to trade at 53.890 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 3.00% or 1.30 points to end at 44.78 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.94% or 0.25 points to 26.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 1.72% or 0.540 points to trade at 30.775 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.14% or 0.600 points to end at 52.190 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 1.13% or 0.15 points to 13.58.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 71 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.53% or 7.05 to $1310.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.87% or 0.82 to hit $43.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 0.65 to trade at $45.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.1158, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8531.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.75% at 95.99.
