Investing.com -- World leaders issued varying responses after U.S. forces struck three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the action in a recorded statement, saying: "Congratulations, President Trump. Your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history... History will record that President Trump acted to deny the world’s most dangerous regime the world’s most dangerous weapons."

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned the strikes on social media platform X, calling them "outrageous" and a "grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT."

Araqchi stated Iran "reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people" in accordance with UN Charter provisions allowing self-defense.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also expressed alarm over the U.S. military action, describing it as "a dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge" and "a direct threat to international peace and security."

Guterres urged member states to "de-escalate and to uphold their obligations under the UN Charter," emphasizing that "there is no military solution" and "the only path forward is diplomacy."

Other nations also weighed in on the situation. An Australian government spokesperson acknowledged that "Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program has been a threat to international peace and security" while noting the U.S. President’s statement about peace and calling for "de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy."

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry urged "diplomatic dialogue for peace between the parties involved" and called for reducing tensions in the region.

Venezuela took a stronger stance, with Foreign Minister Yvan Gil "firmly and categorically" condemning the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, describing it as military aggression carried out "at the request of the State of Israel."
