Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Food & Beverages and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.51%, while the MDAX index gained 0.14%, and the TecDAX index added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn), which rose 3.03% or 3.100 points to trade at 105.550 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.93% or 0.280 points to end at 14.820 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 1.90% or 1.510 points to 80.820 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which lost 2.33% or 2.180 points to trade at 91.370 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 0.78% or 0.115 points to end at 14.610 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 0.78% or 0.052 points to 6.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which rose 3.59% to 44.550, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 1.84% to settle at 36.84 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which gained 1.70% to close at 64.010.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.39% to 31.935 in late trade, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which lost 3.36% to settle at 82.230 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 1.29% to 82.930 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 2.69% to 22.495, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 2.65% to settle at 33.755 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.40% to close at 41.990.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 2.38% to 18.675 in late trade, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which lost 1.33% to settle at 6.105 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 0.62% to 25.565 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 469 to 374 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.43% to 18.98.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.25 to $1321.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.40% or 0.61 to hit $44.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.25% or 1.03 to trade at $46.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1241, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8511.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 95.34.
