Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Acciona (MC:ANA), which rose 3.25% or 2.420 points to trade at 76.980 at the close. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) added 2.92% or 0.195 points to end at 6.875 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) was up 2.45% or 0.44 points to 18.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Acerinox (MC:ACX), which lost 2.16% or 0.255 points to trade at 11.560 in late trade. Bankia SA (MC:BKIA) declined 1.14% or 0.052 points to end at 4.520 and BBVA (MC:BBVA) shed 0.08% or 0.006 points to 7.515.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 140 to 35 and 14 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.47% or 5.66 to $1220.36 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.40% or 0.63 to hit $45.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.46 to trade at $47.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1410, while EUR/GBP fell 0.81% to 0.8854.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 95.54.
