Goldman Sachs is out with its near-term forex outlook
Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.08%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.22%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), which rose 2.25% or 4.42 points to trade at 201.00 at the close. Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) added 1.08% or 1.03 points to end at 96.12 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) was up 1.07% or 1.52 points to 144.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unitedhealth Group (NYSE:UNH), which lost 1.69% or 5.19 points to trade at 302.01 in late trade. Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) declined 1.33% or 2.83 points to end at 209.69 and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) shed 1.12% or 1.63 points to 143.85.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Kroger Company (NYSE:KR) which rose 9.84% to 71.97, Builders FirstSource Inc (NYSE:BLDR) which was up 7.46% to settle at 114.82 and CarMax Inc (NYSE:KMX) which gained 6.59% to close at 68.57.
The worst performers were Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) which was down 6.86% to 285.37 in late trade, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp Class A (NASDAQ:CTSH) which lost 4.64% to settle at 75.47 and Albemarle Corp (NYSE:ALB) which was down 4.61% to 56.66 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Next Technology Holding Inc (NASDAQ:NXTT) which rose 159.77% to 3.46, Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust Inc (NASDAQ:WHLR) which was up 109.06% to settle at 7.15 and Citius Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:CTOR) which gained 69.68% to close at 2.63.
The worst performers were LeddarTech Holdings Inc (OTC:LDTCF) which was down 86.62% to 0.02 in late trade, Nature Wood Group Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:NWGL) which lost 69.80% to settle at 1.70 and SeaStar Medical Holding Corp (NASDAQ:ICU) which was down 63.89% to 0.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1476 to 1293 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1991 fell and 1352 advanced, while 111 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.95% to 20.63.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.70% or 23.88 to $3,384.22 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.71% or 0.52 to hit $74.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.02% or 1.59 to trade at $77.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.15, while USD/JPY rose 0.40% to 146.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 98.39.
