Goldman Sachs is out with its near-term forex outlook
Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 1.79%, while the S&P 500 index lost 1.13%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 1.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX), which rose 0.65% or 0.94 points to trade at 145.91 at the close. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) added 0.28% or 0.44 points to end at 157.10 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) was down 0.13% or 0.11 points to 81.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sherwin-Williams Co (NYSE:SHW), which lost 5.70% or 20.32 points to trade at 335.88 in late trade. Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) declined 4.99% or 18.55 points to end at 352.85 and Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) shed 3.61% or 2.27 points to 60.53.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL) which rose 7.69% to 215.22, CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE:CF) which was up 6.51% to settle at 99.93 and Bunge Limited (NYSE:BG) which gained 5.69% to close at 81.41.
The worst performers were Corpay Inc (NYSE:CPAY) which was down 7.66% to 323.25 in late trade, Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ:CZR) which lost 6.41% to settle at 25.56 and Monolithic Power Systems Inc (NASDAQ:MPWR) which was down 6.38% to 672.73 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were CERo Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:CERO) which rose 1,755.33% to 7.31, Artelo Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:ARTL) which was up 509.33% to settle at 7.20 and Robin Energy Ltd (NASDAQ:RBNE) which gained 317.91% to close at 14.00.
The worst performers were Sharplink Gaming Ltd (NASDAQ:SBET) which was down 71.69% to 9.21 in late trade, Senmiao Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:AIHS) which lost 62.90% to settle at 0.38 and Chanson International Holding (NASDAQ:CHSN) which was down 59.09% to 0.22 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2238 to 541 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2717 fell and 628 advanced, while 94 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 15.65% to 20.84.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.46% or 49.57 to $3,451.97 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 8.20% or 5.58 to hit $73.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 7.83% or 5.43 to trade at $74.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.15, while USD/JPY rose 0.39% to 144.04.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 98.18.
