Goldman Sachs is out with its near-term forex outlook
Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.25% to hit a new 3-month high, while the S&P 500 index added 0.55%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE), which rose 3.17% or 1.96 points to trade at 63.87 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) added 2.65% or 3.07 points to end at 118.73 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) was up 2.60% or 2.06 points to 81.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Travelers Companies (NYSE:TRV), which lost 1.79% or 4.78 points to trade at 263.00 in late trade. Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) declined 1.48% or 4.03 points to end at 268.22 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) shed 1.43% or 4.35 points to 300.43.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) which rose 7.95% to 22.08, Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ:CZR) which was up 5.72% to settle at 28.27 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) which gained 5.67% to close at 326.09.
The worst performers were JM Smucker Company (NYSE:SJM) which was down 15.60% to 94.41 in late trade, NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG) which lost 4.11% to settle at 148.68 and GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) which was down 3.74% to 242.00 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were ClearOne Inc (NASDAQ:CLRO) which rose 1,296.51% to 6.01, Bone Biologics Corp (NASDAQ:BBLG) which was up 637.30% to settle at 5.56 and Carisma Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CARM) which gained 389.42% to close at 1.11.
The worst performers were Baiya International Group Inc (NASDAQ:BIYA) which was down 50.60% to 1.96 in late trade, Unicycive Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:UNCY) which lost 40.88% to settle at 0.53 and WANG & LEE GROUP Inc (NASDAQ:WLGS) which was down 31.24% to 0.08 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1694 to 1051 and 99 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1941 rose and 1357 declined, while 137 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.22% to 16.95.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.31% or 10.55 to $3,344.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.70% or 0.46 to hit $64.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.38 to trade at $66.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.14, while USD/JPY rose 0.24% to 144.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 99.04.
