United Arab Emirates shares mixed at close of trade; DFM General down 0.85%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Transport and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Finance & Investment, Insurance and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.85% to hit a new 6-month low, while the ADX General index added 0.08%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 0.92% or 0.010 points to trade at 1.100 at the close. Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) added 0.79% or 0.040 points to end at 5.090 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was up 0.25% or 0.010 points to 4.090 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 5.15% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.840 in late trade. Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) declined 3.48% or 0.080 points to end at 2.220 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) shed 3.45% or 0.070 points to 1.960.

The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Medical Projects Co PSC (AD:GMPC) which rose 14.94% to 1.77, Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was up 14.49% to settle at 0.790 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which gained 5.56% to close at 0.570.

The worst performers were National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (AD:NBF) which was down 10.00% to 4.50 in late trade, Union Cement (AD:UCC) which lost 7.69% to settle at 1.320 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 3.95% to 0.7300 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 28 to 11 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 fell and 8 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.60% or 0.37 to $61.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.56% or 0.37 to hit $65.14 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.10 to trade at $1312.50 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.22% to 4.4948.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 90.37.
