Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 6.16% or 21.70 points to trade at 373.80 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) added 2.26% or 6.60 points to end at 299.20 and Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) was up 1.43% or 1.70 points to 121.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included National Grid PLC (LON:NG), which lost 11.50% or 115.60 points to trade at 889.40 in late trade. RS Group PLC (LON:RS1R) declined 2.57% or 19.50 points to end at 740.50 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 2.22% or 13.50 points to 596.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 400 to 187 and 14 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.90% or 21.10 to $2,355.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.27% or 0.99 to hit $78.71 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 1.02 to trade at $82.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.49.
