Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Financial Services and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 2.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which rose 7.75% or 39.60 points to trade at 550.40 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 6.93% or 1,120.00 points to end at 17,280.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 6.83% or 43.40 points to 679.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 3.14% or 4.90 points to trade at 151.30 in late trade. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) declined 1.54% or 14.40 points to end at 922.80 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) shed 1.13% or 2.80 points to 245.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1519 to 384 and 474 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.32% or 39.15 to $3,012.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.87% or 0.53 to hit $61.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.23 to trade at $64.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.99% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.58% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 103.06.
