Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Aerospace & Defense and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 5.79% or 226.00 points to trade at 4,130.00 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 4.71% or 14.10 points to end at 313.30 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN) was up 3.77% or 66.00 points to 1,816.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diageo PLC (LON:DGE), which lost 3.46% or 73.00 points to trade at 2,036.00 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 1.58% or 4.10 points to end at 255.95 and Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP) shed 1.12% or 38.00 points to 3,352.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1288 to 493 and 577 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.37% or 11.80 to $3,238.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.65% or 0.40 to hit $61.13 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.68% or 0.44 to trade at $64.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP fell 0.85% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 99.90.
