Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Food & Drug Retailers and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which rose 3.05% or 178.00 points to trade at 6,010.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.44% or 97.00 points to end at 4,069.50 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.37% or 144.00 points to 6,225.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG), which lost 3.27% or 54.00 points to trade at 1,596.00 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 2.26% or 22.80 points to end at 985.20 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 2.15% or 1.72 points to 78.36.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1015 to 882 and 453 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.46% or 28.50 to $1,920.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.89% or 0.89 to hit $99.39 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.10 to trade at $104.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 98.66.
