Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 12.05% or 149.50 points to trade at 1,390.50 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) added 6.94% or 33.70 points to end at 519.00 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) was up 5.99% or 41.60 points to 735.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN), which lost 5.61% or 13.10 points to trade at 220.30 in late trade. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) declined 4.87% or 19.90 points to end at 389.00 and Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) shed 4.58% or 25.60 points to 533.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1307 to 688 and 320 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.00% or 32.75 to $1,668.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.11% or 3.23 to hit $81.73 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.42% or 2.90 to trade at $87.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.38% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.13% at 112.76.
