Trump slaps 30% tariffs on EU, Mexico
Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food Producers, Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BP PLC (LON:BP), which rose 4.73% or 16.80 points to trade at 372.30 at the close. Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) added 4.42% or 6.90 points to end at 162.90 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 4.14% or 84.00 points to 2,112.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 3.32% or 58.00 points to trade at 1,688.00 in late trade. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 3.21% or 104.00 points to end at 3,135.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) shed 2.39% or 17.80 points to 726.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1066 to 697 and 579 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.34% or 44.39 to $3,350.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.30% or 0.78 to hit $60.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.78 to trade at $63.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.51% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 100.14.
