Trump slaps 30% tariffs on EU, Mexico
Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Oil & Gas Producers and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.23% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which rose 9.40% or 56.20 points to trade at 654.00 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 5.95% or 77.50 points to end at 1,380.00 and Barratt Redrow PLC (LON:BTRW) was up 5.62% or 25.30 points to 475.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which lost 4.08% or 11.30 points to trade at 265.70 in late trade. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) declined 2.88% or 34.00 points to end at 1,148.00 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) shed 2.74% or 9.10 points to 323.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 992 to 791 and 559 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.36% or 12.23 to $3,342.67 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.74% or 0.48 to hit $65.77 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.49 to trade at $67.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 99.06.
