Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 5.81% or 18.80 points to trade at 342.20 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 5.32% or 62.50 points to end at 1,237.50 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) was up 5.02% or 36.00 points to 753.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 21.25% or 157.00 points to trade at 581.80 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 10.10% or 12.15 points to end at 108.15 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) shed 4.27% or 35.20 points to 789.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1253 to 602 and 429 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.30% or 5.05 to $1,673.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.59% or 1.29 to hit $79.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.84% or 1.60 to trade at $85.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 112.19.
