LONDON (Reuters) - Britain is in talks with Oxford and AstraZeneca (NASDAQ:AZN) for additional doses of their COVID-19 vaccine that has been changed to better target the "beta" coronavirus variant first identified in South Africa, health minister Matt Hancock said on Wednesday.

"We've started commercial negotiations with AstraZeneca to secure a variant vaccine: future supplies of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine that have been adapted to tackle the B.1.351 variant first identified in South Africa," Hancock said in a speech at Oxford University.

so the plan is to do this each year...have a massive vaccination campaign...with side effect not yet quantified, with a vaccine that 1. does not protect against a highly mutagenic virus/variants 2. wears off in 6-9 months. Politicians should really start to look for plan B
Plan B is we all die, what would you have them do. Infections and more to the point hospital admissions and deaths have plummeted, the side effects of vaccination is we get to live, perhaps you prefer an alternative. My aunt died of covid with no one at her bedside and 6 people at her funeral, you think that is an alternative to vaccination. Grow up
really...we all die? or maybe just 0.3% of the population, the ones with commorbidities mainly?
and a nice brown envelope for Halfcock
What about the other variants? Surely it would make more sense to put all the major variants in like Kent, India and Brazil
