Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which rose 1.46% or 32.00 points to trade at 2227.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 1.19% or 13.00 points to end at 1104.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 0.55% or 9.00 points to 1652.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which lost 3.27% or 258.00 points to trade at 7623.00 in late trade. Next PLC (LON:NXT) declined 3.06% or 117.00 points to end at 3710.00 and Provident Financial (LON:PFG) shed 2.92% or 69.00 points to 2297.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1180 to 759 and 459 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.27 to $1255.17 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.18% or 0.54 to hit $46.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.53 to trade at $48.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.19% to 1.3019, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8936.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.89.
