Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Financial Services and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.04% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 3.69% or 31.00 points to trade at 871.50 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 2.68% or 36.00 points to end at 1380.00 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) was up 2.12% or 9.10 points to 438.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 5.46% or 31.50 points to trade at 546.00 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 2.44% or 26.50 points to end at 1057.50 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) shed 1.99% or 6.80 points to 335.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 949 to 788 and 464 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.25% or 3.15 to $1256.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 4.63% or 2.38 to hit $48.98 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 4.36% or 2.35 to trade at $51.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.12% to 1.2954, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8662.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.04.
