Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Basic Metals and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 4.15% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Metro Holding (IS:METRO), which rose 10.59% or 0.090 points to trade at 0.940 at the close. T. Halk Bankasi (IS:HALKB) added 10.09% or 0.96 points to end at 10.47 and Turkiye Vakiflar Bankasi TAO (IS:VAKBN) was up 7.49% or 0.320 points to 4.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eczacibasi Yatirim (IS:ECZYT), which lost 1.84% or 0.17 points to trade at 9.09 in late trade. Ege Endustri (IS:EGEEN) declined 1.12% or 3.00 points to end at 263.90 and Logo Yazilim (IS:LOGO) shed 0.97% or 0.500 points to 51.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 309 to 47 and 52 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.53% or 6.30 to $1202.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.30% or 0.68 to hit $52.93 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.54% or 0.85 to trade at $55.95 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 2.60% to 3.7643, while EUR/TRY fell 1.86% to 4.0147.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.68% at 101.01.
