Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 3.21% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 2.75%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which fell 1.04% or 0.130 points to trade at 12.430 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) fell 1.23% or 0.150 points to end at 12.025 and SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) was down 1.70% or 1.190 points to 68.620 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which lost 6.45% or 2.015 points to trade at 29.230 in late trade. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) declined 5.37% or 5.450 points to end at 95.950 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) shed 4.75% or 0.540 points to 10.830.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 0.97% to 12.975, Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which was down 0.07% to settle at 99.210 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which lost 0.10% to close at 6.783.
The worst performers were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 12.36% to 24.665 in late trade, Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which lost 4.66% to settle at 65.400 and Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 4.65% to 91.320 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which rose 1.35% to 12.050, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was up 1.11% to settle at 10.500 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 0.27% to close at 150.700.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was down 12.20% to 105.050 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which lost 5.62% to settle at 41.195 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 5.58% to 150.600 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 614 to 123 and 42 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.66.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.30% or 3.70 to $1210.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.00% or 1.71 to hit $58.77 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.41% or 1.55 to trade at $66.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.79% to 1.1178, while EUR/GBP rose 0.81% to 0.7216.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.42% at 94.83.
