Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.43% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539), which rose 10.00% or 3.10 points to trade at 34.10 at the close. Altek (TW:3059) added 9.52% or 2.40 points to end at 27.60 and Adlink Tech (TW:6166) was up 7.70% or 6.80 points to 95.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bright Led (TW:3031), which lost 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 9.90 in late trade. Waffer Tech (TW:6235) declined 9.96% or 0.99 points to end at 8.95 and Fulgent Sun (TW:9802) shed 9.86% or 5.70 points to 52.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 575 to 270 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.08% or 0.04 to $49.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.18% or 0.10 to hit $56.03 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.49% or 5.40 to trade at $1096.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 31.262, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1992.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.52.
